According to a recent update on pod2g’s blog, the iOS 5.1.x jailbreak for all iOS current iDevices will be available in 2 weeks. It appears that a million bucks won’t change anything. So if you have a new iPad and are waiting for a jailbreak, get updated to iOS 5.1.x as you should have it jailbroken in the next couple weeks.

Here are the iOS 5.1.x jailbreak FAQ from pod2g:
The poll about releasing now or waiting for 6.0 ended with a 64% / 33% to release ASAP. Where is the link ? ETA ? How much % done ? etc.
As I said earlier in twitter, there’s still a lot to do to have a user friendly and well tested tool to install the jailbreak on end users devices. Expect a release in a couple of weeks.
Will it be compatible with my?
It will be compatible with any device running iOS 5.1.1 except iPod 3G, iPhone 3Gs and ATV3 (right now, may change in a near future, nobody knows).
Why is it so slow to release now that the iPad 3,1 has been demoed ?
There are 16 different devices out there to work on and to test. It takes time.
May I be a beta tester?
No, sorry. Only really trusted people (that can be counted on one hand) could have access to the jailbreak. I don’t want any leak to happen.
What if I offer you 1,000,000$?
That doesn’t change a thing

Perfect way to combine your Mac or PC with your iPad and iPhone. AirServer allows you to mirror multiple iPad or iPhone devices to a single Mac. There seems to be a little bit of lag on some of the mirroring, but it seems like a nice addition to iOS gaming.
Have you headed out to eBay and picked up an iMac yet?

According to an article on C-Net, it appears that Apple had big plans for the new iPad that was foiled by the unavailability of an IGZO display from Sharp. This new screen would have allowed for a much thinner iPad and wouldn’t have required the 70% increase in battery size of the iPad to maintain the 10 hour rating.
IGZO stands for Indium gallium zinc oxide and it replaces amorphous silicon for the active layer of an LCD screen. IGZO provides forty times higher electron mobility than amorphous silicon, it allows either smaller pixels (for screen resolutions higher than HDTV) or much higher reaction speed for a screen.

Raymond Soneira, president and CEO of DisplayMate Technologies
“The plan was to use this new technology called IGZO from Sharp — a lot higher electron mobility that allows them to make the transistors a lot smaller and the circuit elements a lot smaller,”
“There’s no question that the iPad 3 is Plan B. They pushed amorphous silicon to a higher [pixels per inch] than anybody else. But the light throughput is not good. So it has roughly twice as many LEDs, and they had to get a 70 percent larger battery,”
“The idea was that IGZO would enable a brighter display and you could use less LEDs and you wouldn’t need as big a battery compared to amorphous silicon,”
Maybe the Sharp IGZO display will be used in the iTV from Apple!

If you are looking to amplify your iPad speaker (inconveniently located on the back), there are a couple Kickstarter ideas floating around out there:
You could also be styling with something we all have around the house…I used up roll of toilet paper…

Maybe you would prefer the Soundlazer instead of the empty roll of toilet paper. Apple may have patented it already!

Pod2g tweeted last night that the next jailbreak released was likely a “few weeks” away for the jailbreak community. On the bright side, it does appear to be working in the A5x powered 3rd generation iPad.

This is definitely good news for the latest iPad owners!

Apple is rolling out updates for iOS on the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. This update is a minor update which addresses bugs in AirPlay, Camera App (HDR), and Safari. If you are currently jailbroken on your iPad, or are planning to jailbreak your iPad to install Dashboard X in the coming future…you should avoid this update.

Here are the release notes from Apple for iOS 5.1.1

According to an Apple release, the new iPad will be available in 30 more countries this weekend. With nearly 60 countries already supported, this
will bring the iPad to almost 90 countries throughout the world.

Even with this new iPad rollout, it will still not “officially” be available in China. Apple doesn’t officially own the trademark in China based on a lawsuit.
