iPad Cydia Tweak: LockSliderz [Video]

A new cydia tweak called LockSliderz allows you to add dual functionality to your lock slider, along with a 2nd one, providing up to 4 different functions. As always, you can slide the knob to unlock your iPad and return to the last application you were working in before you put your iPad to sleep. Now there are options to adjust the size of the sliders, and also select a specific iPad app to launch directly from the lock screen. LockSliderz on my iPad and iPhone has been quite functional and useful overall, especially if you have a few apps that you generally launch on your iPad.

LockSliderz is available for $1.49 from the ModMyi repo in Cydia. This tweak has options controlled in your Settings app, and does not add a new icon to your iPad springboard. This is one of the more useful paid Cydia tweaks for your iPad.

Kickstarter Recommendation: iPad Dash

A couple days ago, Dash was introduced on Kickstarter as the in-car solution for your iPhone. There have already been over 180 backers stepping forward, pledging $40,000 of their $45,000 goal. It seems that accessing your iPhone’s small screen from 2-3 feet from your face while driving won’t work very well. I like the concept, but think that an iPad would work much better for this function.

Don’t you agree that the iPad mounted in the car would much more useful?

iPad Cydia Tweak: Graviboard For iOS 5 [Video]

Yesterday afternoon, Conrad Kramer updated his chaotic cydia tweak for the iPad for iOS 5 functionality. Graviboard for iOS 5 is available in a free update for previous owners of Graviboard, and will be offered for only $0.99 for new customers for a couple days. The price I paid for this Cydia tweak was the original price of $2.99. You have the capability to adjust the gravity, friction and bounciness of the icons while being subject to gravity.

Graviboard doesn’t add a new icon to your springboard, but can instead be customized in the extensions section of your settings. Graviboard is “launched” with an Activator action, and the home button returns the your springboard from the craziness of Graviboard. There are options to include or not include the dock icons, turn on/off app launching and disable page swiping. Graviboard is also interactive on your iPad with finger mode creating either a gravity well, anti-gravity well, or enabling you to toss the icons around on your springboard.

Graviboard 2 is available for FREE for previous tweak supporters and the regular price is $2.99…head over to Cydia and check it out. One of the best tweaks out there!

iPad Global Price Index

Nicole Martinelli of Cult Of Mac put together a nice comparison of the relative cost for a 32GB WiFi-only iPad 2 in different locations on the map. Number crunching shows that the 32GB WiFi-only iPad runs $655 in the United States as compared to neighboring countries Mexico ($621) and Canada ($605) being slightly less. Brazil seems to be an outlier, jumping to over $1,000 for the same device.

Click here or on the image above for a larger version.

These prices are sure to drop as we get closer to an iPad 3 announcement. You would think that Foxconn moving operations to Brazil may reduce the exhorbant prices for the iPad 2 in Brazil.

Be sure to check out the ABC Nightline: iFactory presentation tonight with an insiders look of Foxconn.

Inside Foxconn: ABC Nightline [iFactory]

Apple has allowed ABC Nightline anchor Bill Weir along with a cameraman into the their Foxconn factory buildings. Disney owns ABC, and their CEO Bob Igner is on the Apple Board. This special edition of ABC Nightline will air tomorrow (Tuesday) February 21 at 11:35 PM ET/PT on ABC.

Almost 100 Foxconn workers have been injured in a series of explosions at iPad and iPhone plants over the last few years, this inside look is definitely DVR worthy if you aren’t a nightowl. Again, February 21 at 11:35 PM ET/PT on ABC.

“For years, Apple and Foxconn have been synonymous with monster profits and total secrecy so it was fascinating to wander the iphone and iPod production lines, meet the people who build them and see how they live. Our cameras were rolling when thousands of hopeful applicants rushed the Foxconn gates and I spoke with dozens of line workers and a top executive about everything from hours and pay to the controversies over suicides at the plant and the infamous “jumper nets” that line the factories in Shenzhen. After this trip, I’ll never see an Apple product the same way again,”

iPad 2 Price Drop ($429)

The guys over at Meijer’s website decided it was time to drop the price of the iPad 2 down $75 to $429. Many retailers are claiming there are shortages of the Apple tablet, pointing us toward the release of a new iPad 2. Many are expecting the next Apple event to come within the next couple weeks to announce the new retina 2048×1536 iPad and hopefully cut the iPad 2 price down to $299.

What else are you hoping Apple will announce at their iPad event? AppleTV refresh or smaller iPad?

Apple cannot forget to include 4G LTE on the iPad along with a quad-core processor!
