Bring Life to Your Computer – Review of 6 Computer Speakers Worth Considering

A good speaker system can bring your computer to life. Although speakers may come with your computer, they’re invariably not very reliable in most cases. Here’s an honest review of computer speakers worth considering, whether you want splurge on speakers with the best quality or get good value for your budget.

1. The Audionengine A5B

This Audioengine offering boasts of having a minimal design, excellent sound quality and exquisite styling. There are two audio inputs and two integrated charging choices, namely an AC plug and a USB port. The unit is made up of two powered stereo speakers that come with wire connections that lets you maximize stereo separation. Just remember that you can’t toggle between inputs, and that the unit doesn’t come with a remote control.

The speakers are too bulky and large to be PC speakers, so think about your space if you choose this unit. It’s also quite expensive, so consider it only if you want to splurge or are a stickler for powerful sound.

2. Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra MX6021

A visually delightful design, wide range of connectivity options and powerful bass are what you’ll experience with this Altec product. It also offers a desktop controller for treble, bass and volume. These delicious offerings really reflect the high performance Altec has been known for.

The only downside is that the speaker cables come too short, so the model doesn’t offer that much flexibility when it comes to the placement of the speakers.

3. The Harman Kardon SoundSticks III

Music lovers will be delighted by the four drivers found in every satellite. The best thing about the Harman Kardon SoundSticks III may be the extra bass it offers.

If you usually plug in headphones into your speakers, this isn’t the speaker system for you as it doesn’t come with a headphone jack. It can also get a bit irritating that the translucent lighting can’t be turned off while the speakers are turned on.

4. Take Classic 5.1 from Energy

Want a great product at an affordable price? This Energy 5.1 computer speakers system will give you the surround-sound quality you’re looking for. Each speaker is built with a piano-black finish. This allows the speakers to appear more expensive and fancier than its  price. All in all, the model gives fascinating value for the price.

Still, there are other 5.1 computer speakers audio systems that provide better sound quality for a similar price, such as the Pioneer SP-PK21BS.

5. Logitech Speaker System Z523

For a reasonably priced speaker system, this Logitech offers highly acceptable sound. Powerful bass, a vast range of connectivity options, and volume and bass controls are all generously offered by the unit.

On the whole, the Z523 won’t totally blow you away with the sounds that come out of it. Still, it’s one of the best among speakers in its price class.

6. Monoprice 8247 5.1 Computer Speakers

This rig won’t give all the bells and whistles of more expensive speakers, but you will receive a vast array of attractive features. The system has a solid 8-inch subwoofer, a center channel, swivel wall mounts, and four two-way satellite speakers. There’s also the reliable 5.1 computer speakers amplifier that features 60 watts, and speaker and RCA level inputs.

The cabinets for the speaker feel quite plasticky, though. If you can spend a little more money, there are other units with better features in almost every way.
