The Ipad Library Store offers a wide range of downloads, information, and accessories for the Ipad.
I read that it is indeed an interesting device (and I’m on my first AND LAST apple device – an iphone 3GS)….
But…Like Anandteach said, does it actually replace anything that you currently own? that is my big problem with it.
If I end up buying one I surely self-destruct, but I can’t see it replacing ANYTHING web-based with Apples’ continued refusal to support flash….
There are more features for the iPad than the the ipod touch but it won’t run adobe flash player and the battery isn’t as good as you think it is. It really depends on if want to be lugging around a giant tablet when a laptop is a little easier to be seen in public with.
I personally just bought an iPad 3G. I LOVE IT!! It is not meant to actually replace anything, but rather merge specialized devices into one platform. My iPod touch will always outperform my iPad in terms of music since I can fit my iPod into my pocket. The iPad will never COMPLETELY replace my $3000 laptop for word processing, web surfing, or other heavy computer tasks (although the iPad is slowly kicking my brand new laptop out the door with each passing day) but it can and will do most functions I require of a computer (iPad does if for over 10 hours in fact). What I have found the iPad does is merge everything into one superdevice. My PS3 will always play video games better but my iPad plays games and can do it on the go. My Bluray player plays movies in HD but my iPad does that too; even on the go for 10+ hours. The iPad is a new category for electronic devices just as the smartphone created a category. I truly believe the device is “revolutionary”. Lack of flash is glaring but not essential as there is pretty much an app for EVERYTHING. The graphics are simply stunning, the casing is top-notch (I have slid this thing across the table multiple times and there are absolutely NO scratches), and having a giant touch screen that does pretty much everything is just AWESOME. You really cannot judge this product until you try it. On paper, it really doesn’t look like much; pick it up and it’s a whole new ball game.
IPad is a new way of computing which filters all the frills and unwanted clutters. I have 2 PC laptops ,iMac desktop and a MacBook Pro. I am in IT field so I need to have many computers.
I do need to create PowerPoint presentation and word document on every day basis. After getting iPad I leave all my computer home and carry only iPad that has taken wait off my shoulders.
I can create beautiful presentation and word document on it and if I am stuck with very complicated work , I can anytime access my desktop from my iPad so iPad has made my life super easy.
Another great thing about iPad is it’s always on. The time, PC takes to boot, is enough for iPad to accomplish many tasks.
Many people cry over flash but I am happy that iPad doesn’t support flash so I don’t get all unwanted flash based ad banners when you visit a website. Still I can watch full length movies and TV shows on iPad because flash is dead all the video content are being recoded into HTML 5.
iPad can do many things simultaneously. You can play radio app at the background. Screen can be split into two parts, on one side browse the Internet on the other side you can open any widget like unit converter,calculator or translator.
Gaming is incredible on it but I won’t compare with Xbox or PS3. iPad doesn’t have that kind of power but still it has endless fun and some game do give you a feel of console games.
Another amazing feature is you can create playlist right on device and set the order of the songs.
Saving email attachment to different apps is like a blessing for professionals. I join many meeting remotely using iPad free app gotomeeting.
Slideshow is just out of this world with songs playing with it. Watching news videos on MSNBC.com is lovely.
Netflix and Abc Player work like charm. I got netflix membership just for iPad. I love watching movies on this stylist device. I was never a fan of tv shows but since I got iPad I have started watching tv shows Modern Family and Happy Town.Many people love watching Lost,Dancing With Stars,V, Survivors etc on iPad.
Push notification for NBA playoffs is dead on. It gives latest scores even if it’s in sleep mode.It can download YouTube videos and full length movies from iTunes and from some websites(Free) so you can enjoy them even if you are not connected to Internet.
Reading books on iPad is enticing.
Overall I love iPad and I can’t imagine my life without it I carry my entire office on it with loads of entertainment and fun stuff.
Just an update::: Battery life is incredible. My iPad is used heavily everyday still it easily lasts over 14 hours at one charge.
It can do everything that computer does. Who cares about flash? It plays all the videos without flash.
iPad is not just a large ipoad touch it’s a computer, operates in a new way.
iPad technology speed up things and cut down the lengthy path so doing work on iPad is much easier and faster.
IPad version of MS Office is good enough to do work with and ability to have accessibility over many apps together is new thing and that’s make things easier.
Battery life is just unbelievable.
Even If I play video continuously and browse the Internet, it gives me 12 to 15 hours.
Gaming ????just wow.
Asphalt 5 , NOVA, Brother In Arms ,Avatar have stunning graphics. I don’t know what kind of power A4 chip has but performance wise iPad excels in every field.
Like many others I also fell in love with iPad apps Netflix and Abc Player.
The experience, of watching super scary movies on iPad under the blanket on bed with headphone on, is just unmatched.

I think the iPad is an amazing luxury item. Most people I hear complaining about it are those who either don’t have one and are insanely jealous of Apple for some odd reason or those that bought one, but stretched their pocket to do so. There are gobs of people who can go drop $500-$1k without batting an eye. If you are one of these people, then it is an awesome toy. But it’s not going to replace any item you have, i.e. laptop, phone, xbox…
iPad is marvelous.
Typing on it is charm and battery never drains.
Since I got this insane machine I have hardly used my laptop. My normal use of laptop was word doc , PowerPoint , excel spreadsheet and joining the meeting using webex. I often watch movies and do some tweeting and chatting.
On iPad I can do all those that I could do on computer but it’s better and faster on iPad plus I can hold it like book so reading has become pleasure.
I also love it doesn’t support flash because flash ads are annoying. Few people who have never seen iPad in their lives , say iPad cant play videos from the web. Let me tell you iPad DOES PLAY VIDEOS FROM Websites.
Flash is not needed.
Watching HD video, full length movies , TV shows and sports event on iPad is incredible.
You can play games on it graphics are amazing with great sound quality.
